From our humble beginnings in the late 1970s to becoming the largest care provider in Rosewood, Cabanda Care embodies a deep commitment to community-oriented, high-quality care. Our mission is to deliver personalised services that meet the diverse needs of our community, guided by our vision to maintain lifelong connections and enhance the quality of life for our residents.

1979

A group of Rosewood community members identified the urgent need for a local aged care facility.

Early 1980s

Establishment of a Committee and a community-wide fundraising effort began.

1987

The Rosewood Aged Person’s Home opened its doors as a 26-bed hostel.

Cabanda Care Has Grown

The Residential Village at Cabanda comprises 52 units, including 42 Independent Living Units and 10 Long Term Rental Units. In addition to this, Cabanda offers Permanent Residential Care, Centre-Based Respite, a Dementia Unit, a Social Support Group, Home Care services, Meals on Wheels, Community Transport, and the Cabanda Café.

Cabanda Care, rooted deeply in the town of Rosewood, Queensland, began as a dream in 1979 by community visionaries who believed in creating a safe, local haven for older people. Their goal was to ensure that residents could continue living within their community, even when they could no longer live independently. Today, Cabanda stands as a comprehensive care facility, serving up to 150 elderly and disabled individuals with a range of services including independent living units, day respite, and both low and high care residential facilities. Achieved through careful planning, relentless hard work, and continuous community-driven fundraising efforts, Cabanda exemplifies the power of community spirit.  From the men who collected and sold bottles for funding to the volunteers who dedicated their time to residents’ wellbeing and the facility’s governance, the spirit of Rosewood has been the backbone of Cabanda’s success. This legacy of community support built Cabanda and sustains it to this day.
